Shelby Trapid is a bilingual songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Montréal, Québec. 

Initially writing and performing with bands in the early 2010s, Shelby reappeared on the Montreal independent music scene in 2022 with their debut solo release, Everything I could not fix I broke into smaller pieces. This was followed up by  No Ambition, Only Desire in 2024.

Their third record, False Balance, was released in 2026.

Shelby holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from McGill University and has delved into the realms of psycholinguistics and music cognition as a researcher. Their penchant for analysis and experimentation is woven into the fabric of their songwriting and production style.

In addition to music production and performance, Shelby maintains a multidisciplinary visual arts practice that includes collage, printmaking, ceramics and textiles.
